Featured on YouTube’s Hungry Channel, the show Hungry In… visits South Austin. Gotta say, this is a very cool and well-produced video.

This video from Yahoo’s Blue Ribbon Hunter is just darn weird. The map of barbecue spots from around the country shows a pig in our state of Texas; everyone knows that in the Lone Star State, beef rules. Bad research. and who thinks Kansas City is the only place with burned ends? I (used to) get them here in Austin all the time. That was when I ate meat.

As I had hoped, I would be getting my video creation chops back… Over time, I will begin to create more elaborate videos related to fromtube2table, but here’s a first go-round— a clip of Saturday night music at Stiles Switch in North Austin.
Dang, the issue with using these new-fangled video cameras is they are way too automatic in nature. hence, outside shots are in focus but inside fuzzy. Time to get back to my old standby video camera.
Oh, BTW, the food and music at Stiles Switch was memorable. As Always

In my days as a food critic (circa 1978-80) I got in some serious trouble over a review of a hot dog place in Allentown, PA. Things have gone upscale in the doggie business as you can see in this review of Frank in downtown Austin. I have been there, and the place is OK, but if you are a devotee of Chicago-style dogs you will be lukewarm about Frank.

I have been reading about Whip In since we moved to Austin four and one half years ago. Been wanting to go but it’s not in a spot we normally pass by in our daily lives. After seeing Andrew Zimmern drop by, we must head that way. Will report afterwards.

Bon Appetit has come out with its top 50 new restaurants and, no surprise, Elizabeth Street Cafe is on the list. I have been to many Vietnamese restaurants, all of which have been operated by Asian proprietors, but ESC is as good as it gets. For me, the vermicelli bowl is the barometer for greatness and ESC adds its own flair and knocks it out of the park. And dungeness crab in a spring roll? Amazing.

BBQ guru Steven Raichlen is coming to Austin. Will he cook on stage or just make us hungry with tales of why Texas barbecue is so wonderful?

Before heading off to that news wasteland called CNN, Tony B brings his “No Reservations” act to Austin.
Bourdain is one of those celebrchefs who just can’t get enough of my adopted hometown: Rachel Ray, Adam Richman, Guy Fieri, etc.. Enough already; we prefer to stay slightly under the radar (and remain weird).

Austinite Mark S. Hall has created a heralded documentary “Sushi, The Global Catch” which examines the world’s love of sushi and its impact on the global environment,
Oddest place I have ever had sushi? Well, perhaps South America’s lone land-locked nation—Paraguay. I have had some great sushi not only in Japan but what I recently ate in Taiwan and Korea was amazing.

And the winner of the Best Sandwich in America for the southwest region is… Austin’s Noble Pig.
I have never tried the beef tongue sandwich, and although it sounds kinda gross, my take is that if Adam Richman love it then…
